概要

効率性が求められる脳トレ

ここで紹介するメーカーでは認知機能改善の研究に基づいて、脳トレプログラムが開発されている。

そもそも脳トレでなくとも、他の知的作業(例え計算問題やパズルを解くなど)によってもシナプス可塑性や密度は上昇し、その分野の認知機能は高まる。

そのため、脳トレーニングが学術的に認められるには非常に高いハードルがあり、他の一般的な知的活動と比較してより短い時間で、特定の認知能力を高めたり、認知症の発症リスクを低減させる効果をもつことが要求される。

ここで紹介するブレイントレーニングプログラムは、そういった一定のエビデンスの蓄積があるものだけを掲載している。

先延ばし効果

ブレイントレーニング、ブレインエクササイズはアルツハイマー病の発症そのものを抑制するというよりも、先延ばしする効果、または認知症発症の初期段階で認知機能の低下を穏やかにする証拠がいくつかある。

つまり単に脳トレを行っただけでは、認知機能の目覚ましい改善は見込めない。

そして、認知症予防として脳トレを行う場合、そのことによって認知機能が保たれているがゆえに認知症の発見が遅れる!というパラドキシカルな事態が起こりうる可能性もあるということ。

 

前者については、脳トレだけを行うのではなく、その他リコード法などの認知機能改善策と併用していくことで認知機能の改善が十分に期待できるだろう。

後者についても、物覚えが悪くなってから認知症の可能性を考えるのではなく、リコード法のコグノスコピーであらかじめ自分の認知症リスクを知っておくことが肝要だ。

難易度調整とモチベーション

また、脳トレがその人に合わせた難易度調整が行われること、モチベーション維持の工夫がされていることが重要な原則。

脳トレのゲーム自体は探せば無料でも手に入るのだが、そこに有料プログラムの価値があると言っていいだろう。

注意力と作業記憶のトレーニング効果がどれだけ維持されるかは、身体的トレーニングと同程度と考えればいい。
